Yes, Michael J. Fox can really play Johnny B. Goode. Here’s video proof. From this millenium.
Did Marty McFly just pick up his guitar again?
Everyone remembers Fox’s iconic performance of the song from the first Back to the Future movie. What many don’t realize is that Fox actually learned the song, even if his playing (and his voice) didn’t make it into the film.
“Alright, this is an oldie,” Fox says in the movie. “Well. It’s an oldie. Where I come from.”
And, it turns out, Michael J. Fox can actually play guitar pretty well. And he still remembers Johnny B. Goode, as guests of a gala for Fox’s Foundation for Parkinson’s Research found out.
“Basic blues in A, alright? Watch me for the changes,” Chris Martin, Coldplay’s frontman said, as the band prepared to kick in.
And, standing in front of him, is Marty McFly himself—Michael J. Fox—, playing a sunburst telecaster, and cutting straight into the opening riff.
An oldie. But it still sounds pretty good from here.
